  • Movies With a View Opening Night
    It's outdoor movie mania! The 10th annual Movies with a View outdoor summer film series opens this Thursday night with a screening of "Raising Arizona" beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Arrive early: DJs will be playing pre-movie music, and RICE will dishing out dinner.
    Thursday evening (movie begins at sunset) in Brooklyn Bridge Park at Empire-Fulton State Park

  • Wild Arts Weekend at the Prospect Park Zoo
    It's a weekend of animal-friendly fun at the Prospect Park Zoo: Scheduled events include puppet shows, face painting, arts & crafts, dance, and, of course, plenty of real animal encounters.
    Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 4pm at the Prospect Park Zoo

  • Bastille Day on Smith Street
    Embrace your inner Francophile, and head to Smith Street for a day of live music, French food, specialty cocktails, and the 7th annual Bastille Day Pétanque Tournament, the largest in North America.
    Sunday, 12pm to 10pm in the areas surrounding Smith Street and Dean Street

SummerScreen Starts Tonight!

Celebrate summer in Brooklyn tonight with a free screening of "Wet Hot American Summer," the first in McCarren Park's SummerScreen outdoor movie series, which will run every Wednesday night through August 12. Tonight's film begins at dusk near the McCarren Park Ball Fields.

Bastille Day in Brooklyn

Last week we celebrated U.S. independence, but this weekend it's time to wave the French flag: Bastille Day festivities are taking place on Sunday, July 12. Head to Smith Street, where thousands of Francophiles from throughout the city will be gathering for a day of live music, French food, specialty cocktails, and, of course, the 7th annual Bastille Day Pétanque Tournament.

The celebration will last from 12pm to 10pm, in the areas surrounding Smith Street and Dean Street.
